在短语动词中，“around”和“about”通常可以互换，英式英语中使用“about”较多。但也有一些时候他俩是不能互换的，本文会标注星号✳️。

around 和 about，是啥意思？

在和动词连接之后，around 和 about 基本上还是保留了它们自身的一些意思，比如表示发生在不同地方的“到处”，又或者表示没有秩序和目标的“随意”。

用到这俩介词的短语动词，都是不太正式的表达，我们看看下面这两个老师的对话：

Holly: Rumours have been flying around the staffroom lately that you’re leaving. Is it true?

最近谣言满天飞，说你要走了。真的吗？

Jake: It amazes me how news gets around in this place! I did say to one or two people that I was tired of being bossed around by you-know-who, and, I have asked around ✳️ here and there to see if they need any full-time teachers, but I haven’t made a decision yet.

消息在这里“到处传”，好震惊！我确实对一两个人说过，我厌倦了被那谁“指手画脚”，我“到处问”，看看他们是否需要全职老师，但我还没有做出决定。

Holly: Oh, right. I heard the other day that Eleanor is sick of running around ✳️ after you-know- who sorting out problems he’s caused. So she might leave too. 在这个对话里的“boss around”，指的是“指手画脚”，像老板一样给别人乱下命令，“around”在这里不是说让人到处跑，而是指一种“随意和频繁”。

around 和 about 的其他用法

Children! Stop playing around! Sit politely. 孩子们，不要瞎搞，坐定了。The neighbours have been banging about next door all morning. 邻居整个早上都在隔壁屋弄得砰砰乱响（敲打东西或搬重物）。Theo was clowning around at the party last night. It got very irritating. 西奥昨晚在聚会上装疯卖傻，太烦人了。（clown指“小丑”，clown around 指装疯卖傻逗人笑）Politicians often skirt around ✳️ the truth and don’t give direct answers to questions. 政客总是绕开真相，不直接回答问题。It’s a problem, but I’m sure we can work around ✳️ it in some way. 是个问题，但我确定我们可以绕开它。
