英语中与家和住处有关的最基本的三个单词是

home一词的用法

当我们要说在某人家里时，常用at sb’s home，另外还可以用“at + 人名所有格”或“at + the + 人名所有格”表示

They stayed overnight at Mike’s. (= at Mike’s house)

This evening we’re going to be at the Jacksons’. (= at the Jacksons’ house)

对比：The + 姓氏复数 表示一家人，如 the Smiths, the Robinsons

当副词用时，场合方向动词连用，如get, go, come, arrive, travel, drive. 但常常不加to:

I’m going home now. I’m really tired. 我现在要回家，我累坏了。

还可以用作可数名词，指收养动物和照看人的场所，比如

There’s a home for the elderly at the end of our street. 在我们的街头有一个老人之家。

We got our dog from the stray animal home. 我们从流浪动物之家找到了我们的狗。

还可以指出生的国家，祖国

She is famous at home and abroad. 她闻名国內外。
