同事小何家里新买了一块儿大屏投影，晚上请了我们几个去看电影，看得居然是《我脑海中的橡皮擦》......幸好这片儿我早就看过了，否则肯定得跟 Lawrence 他们几个一样哭得稀里哗啦的~哭得差不多了，Lawrence 一边儿不好意思地擦着眼泪一边解释“I know it's embarrassing, but sad movies like that always reduce me to tears.”

他这一句里用了一个有意思的短语——reduce sb. to tears，大家可别从字面儿上理解成是“减少某人的眼泪”，其实，"reduced"当动词讲时还有“使某人沦为，使陷入（不好的境地），迫使、使不得不（做）”的意思，所以 Lawrence 刚才说的是“我知道这很尴尬，但那种伤感的电影总是让我流泪。”

reduce sb. to tears/silence 使某人落泪 / 哑口无言、陷入沉寂
