The word Vaccine was first recorded to be used in the English language in the year 1799, while its derivative words like vaccination and vaccinate are noted to be used in the year 1800. Vaccine is derived from the Latin word Vacca, which means cow. It was in the late 1790s and early 1800s when English physician-scientist Edward Jenner invented vaccines against smallpox which led to a revolution in the world of global healthcare.
