Some time ago, and interesting discovery was made by archaeologists on the Aegean island of Kea. An American team explored a temple which stands in an ancient city on the promontory of Ayia Irini.

不久之前，在爱琴海的基亚岛上，考古工作者有一项有趣的发现。一个美国考古队在阿伊亚.依里尼海角的一座古城里考察了一座庙宇。

（1）some time, sometime, sometimes的不同

①some time

Some time表示过了较长的一段时间，所以Some time ago就翻译为不久之前。比如：

Some time ago, he made me go jogging with him. 前一阵子，他叫我和他去慢跑。

②sometime

这里的some time要区别于sometime。sometime做副词表示“来日”“在某一时候”，所以常见于将来时中。比如：

Come and see me sometime next week.下个什么时候有时间来看我。

sometime当作形容词时可以表示从前的，这时候就要使用过去时。比如：

He was sometime engineer at Alibaba. 他是阿里的前工程师。

③sometimes

这个单词是频率副词，意思是“有时”，表示不太常有的频率。

We sometimes play basketball after class. 下课后，我们有时候打篮球。

（2）discovery的用法

discovery是名词，表示发现，有时候也作发现物讲。比如：

Many discoveries in science, engineering and the arts mix ideas from different fields. 许多理工和人文科学方面的发现都融合了不同领域中的思想。

一般比较常见的就是与make连用，来表示发现了某物。

It is very exciting to make a new discovery. 有了新发现，这是非常令人激动的。
