One day an old man is selling a big elephant. A young man comes to the elephant and begins to look at it slowly. The old man goes up to him and says in his ear, "Don't say anything about the elephant before I sell it; then I will give you some meat." "All right," says the young man. After the old man sells the elephant, he gives the young man some meat and says, "How can you see the bad ears of the elephant?" "I didn't see the bad ears," says the young man. "Then why do you look at the elephant slowly?" asks the old man. The young man answers, "Because I have never seen an elephant before, and I want to know what it looks like."

一天，一个老人正在卖一头大象。一个年轻人走到大象跟前，开始慢慢地看它。老人走到他面前，对他的耳朵说：“在我卖掉大象之前，不要说任何关于它的事，然后我会给你一些肉。”“好吧，”年轻人说。老人卖掉大象后，给了年轻人一些肉，说：“你怎么能看到大象的坏耳朵呢？”“我没有看到坏耳朵，”年轻人说。"那你为什么要慢慢看大象？"老人问。年轻人回答说：“因为我以前从未见过大象，我想仔细看看它究竟长什么样子。”
