今天我们要听的这个绘本可以说是最最著名的晚安故事了。该书自1947年发行至今，在长踞畅销书排行榜中，不同的译文版本发行已超过1000万本。被纽约公共图书馆选入“本世纪具有影响力的经典书籍之一”。

据说创作灵感是来自作者的一个梦。作者以小朋友的口吻，把这个美妙恬静的晚安故事娓娓道来。它的语言像摇篮曲一样，押韵好听，就算依照原文朗读也像极了催眠曲。而且这本书彩色和黑白交替出现，黑白页是彩色页的特写。在视觉上很适合宝宝们睡前阅读。
