Hi! 大家好哇！看完句子后记得思考：“and”的前后什么内容平行并列？请看：

1. 单词和词组

ability to do sth n. …的能力

long-term adj. 长期的；长远的

prevent sb/sth (from doing sth) 阻止某人做某事

an even playing field n. 公平的竞争环境

2. 拆分句子

标点符号：, . ! : — 等

②连接词：and, but, or, that, which......

a. 标点符号拆分：

# 句子中没有可以拆分的标点符号。

b. 连接词拆分：

开头“Kennedy wrote that …”，引导词在动词“wrote”后，故此处是动宾-宾语从句（到最后），可以拆分。

在“ " " ”中，有“and has prevented …”，我们知道：连接词“and”连接的前后需要是相同的词性和时态，故此处是“limited …”和“has prevented …”是并列结构，共用一个主语“the rule”，可以拆分。

# 为什么句子中的“limited”不是动词的过去分词作修饰呢？

因为这里“the rule”和“limited”是主动的关系，即“这项规则限制了各州的能力”。

经过上面的拆分后，可以得到句子之间的关系：

主句：

"Kennedy wrote …"

宾语从句：

"that the rule "limited states' ability to seek long-term prosperity"

并列共用主语“the rule”：

"and has prevented market participants from competing on an even playing field."

e. 译文：

肯尼迪写道，该规则“限制了各州寻求长期繁荣的能力，并使市场参与者无法 在公平的竞争环境中 竞争。”

f. 译文：

1. "ability to do sth" n. …的能力

Losing your ability to think and remember is pretty scary.丧失思考和记忆能力是相当可怕的。

2. "prevent sb/sth (from doing sth)" 阻止某人做某事

Nothing would prevent him from speaking out against injustice.什么都不能阻止他鸣不平。
